Derek and Teresa have become good friends over the years. We’ve stayed in touch over social media since their elopement in Maui. Their son, Miles, is a smidge older than Kitt, so it was an extra special treat to photograph a child at this age. I could relate to so many of the toddler moments: pushing cars on the window sills, playing peek-a-boo, chasing after dogs. Even though it was a rainy morning, we made the most of mud puddles and walked to their local park as the mist came and went.
