Jen and Porter originally planned a large backyard wedding near Charleston. A few weeks after they signed the contract, they told me that they preferred to elope with just immediate family in tow in a beautiful location. They ended up in Vail, CO, a town that has become extremely sentimental to them both, as they spent most of their dating relationship in Vail. After experiencing their elopement firsthand, I know that they made the best call, notwithstanding the pandemic.
Her sister is based in Vail, and she helped scout the perfect field with mountains surrounding for the ceremony site. She created the most beautiful macrame for Jen and Porter to exchange vows under. Jen approached their small gathering from afar, the mountains looming in the distance. Porter’s eyes weren’t the only ones with tears in them.
After promises were made, they popped champagne and shared it with their family. Their guests left to get the airbnb ready for the reception, and we took a little rendezvous in the jeep. This is another time that I was incredibly grateful to have 4WD in Colorado for an elopement. It took about an hour on gnarly back roads to make it to the summit, but it was 1000% worth the trek. We could see for miles around with only a slight haze from wildfires in the area. The aspen trees glittered like gold in the sunshine.
They arrived back at the house, and a private chef prepared a beautiful dinner for their families. After enjoying the meal, their siblings shared toasts, and the newlyweds cut their cake. All in all, it was the perfect day.
