Carrie’s dad and my dad spent their childhood together in the same neighborhood. I grew up in the same part of town, across the street from the Johnson family. Most of my childhood memories involve Katie and Carrie: climbing trees, playing with Lisa Frank things, make-believe in their basement, singing to Amy Grant…
As much as Michigan had been home for most of her life, Carrie + Kyle decided to host their wedding in the town where they decided to start their lives together. Annapolis is a quaint harbor town with beautiful architecture and incredible history. Their guests flew in from all over the country to celebrate by the beach at The Chesapeake Bay Foundation. A few of my favorite moments:
// Carrie’s dad has always been sarcastic and loves to kid around. There was a brief moment when I pulled them aside to grab a photo in the hotel, and he was cracking jokes as usual. However, I could see his eyes water a little bit when he looked at Carrie and then the camera. It’s never easy to give your daughter away.
// We spent the entire afternoon driving around downtown Maryland for photos. It was fun to explore the city and for C+K to have time with their bridal party before the festivities started.
// One of my favorite moments was seeing so many neighbors from my childhood. It was like a reunion! We made sure to grab a “Lake Point” kid photo before the evening was over.
// Kyle (Carrie’s brother) had brought liquor from Georgia (the country) where he is currently based with the Peace Corp. Everyone enjoyed taking shots and sips of the (what appeared to be) strong liquor.
Emma deserves a gold star for driving all the way from VA to help me with this wedding. A couple of her images are sprinkled in here.
