Photo Field Trip is one of my favorite weeks each year. It is a gathering of creatives who swap stories around campfires, take classes, enjoy the beautiful nature of El Capitan Canyon, pet baby goats, eat cereal from the cereal truck, take photographs, play with film, relax, refuel, and overall get excited for the 2015 season. I had a blast with my roommates (Alicia, Alli, and Martha), but also had some truly incredible conversations with old and new friends that I don’t get to see that often.
Even though I went last year, I feel like I took away something completely different this time around. This year, it was less about classes and more about community. I learned great things from my classes, yes, but I think I learned more from listening + sharing stories with fellow creatives.
Photo Field Trip is an experience unlike any other “photography workshop” in the best way possible.
A few photos from my iPhone (follow me on Instagram @megangielow to see more!).
We stopped at this rad vintage store in Malibu and found these “spirit hoods.” It’s no secret how much I love our dog, and I didn’t know that I could find a hat that matches him! Get this–they’re legitimately a trend in the mountains of Malibu. We had to take a few photos and couldn’t stop laughing.
I didn’t shoot too much; however, when I did, I was forced to put my camera down and get my photo taken too. All credit goes to Alli for the next two images.
Martha took the next five, including the fun frame of Alicia and I.
My sweet friend, Alicia, snapped these last two :)
oh hey! glad I made the cut ;)
