One of my oldest friends married the love of her life in the hometown she grew up in, on her dad’s golf course where she spent summers working, in front of the place where her grandfather’s ashes were scattered. It was a day of sweet sentiment and celebration shared among their closest family and friends. We were fortunate with a beautiful summer day in Michigan, where we could roam the woods and the beach for photos. We actually visited my parents’ cottage for the photos on the lake, which was meaningful for me because it’s where we were married. I had never really taken any clients to the cottage before, so it was incredibly fun to visualize the space in a different way and celebrate someone else’s wedding day.
I loved Ashley + Jake’s setup for their reception. In lieu of flowers, they used fresh herbs and vegetable plants for their centerpieces. They also hung lanterns and their reply cards from their guests. Ashley and Jake wrote personal notes for each of their guests that acted as their place cards . Their friends set off fireworks to close the evening. Magical!
Ash + Jake: I’m so happy for you both. Thank you for letting me be a part of your intimate wedding. I hope it won’t be years until we see each other again. Can’t wait to hear about your African honeymoon!
