Mandy prayed for a cloudy afternoon and sunny evening. She wanted perfect weather for their wedding at The Biltmore. God delivered because it was perfectly overcast all afternoon until the sun broke through the clouds in the evening.
Even with ideal weather, every wedding has its unplanned happenings. Honestly, the “bumps” are always some of my favorite memories because they make a wedding unique. During the processional, Mandy’s veil kept snagging on the floor, and, therefore, fell off…more than once. Michelle (planner) had to help her finish her walk down the aisle to everyone’s giggles :) The best man almost passed out before handing over the rings and had to sit in a chair the rest of the ceremony. But, he laughed it off in his toast, suggesting to the crowd that he should sit for his speech. There was a delay in the morning with the trolley going to the wrong place, but it allowed us to make time after the cocktail hour to shoot in pretty light. It always works out for the best, and I’m sure these funny memories will be passed on in family stories for generations to come.
Mandy and Josh surprised their guests with masks and sombreros during the reception to celebrate “la hora loca,” a Columbian tradition. All of her aunts and cousins showed off their salsa moves on the dance floor. It was one of the best parties I’ve ever been to!
M+J: Thanks for allowing us to be a part of your wedding! I know you’re off exploring the world for the next few weeks (crazy jealous!), but I hope you enjoy a few more of my favorites:) Have a safe trip back to the states!
Special thanks to Natalie Schram for second shooting, and Michelle with Occasions by Emily for making the day run smoothly!
Mandy’s sweet grandmother gave a blessing in Spanish over the rings before they put they put them on.
Congrats Mandy + Josh!
As the FOB, may I just say she looks stunning, and I kinda like the groom too. Love the reaction shots and the focus on Vita’s hands for her benediction. Thank you for your creativity, professionalism and imperceptible presence throughout the night.
[…] they were officially announced, we spent time in front of the conservatory and in the gardens taking a few more photos while guests enjoyed the Spanish-themed cocktail hour. […]
