I’ve loved becoming even better friends with Nicki and Brian after their elopement last spring in Asheville. And, as Nicki said, we reached a whole new level of friendship after witnessing their daughter’s birth. As I’m sure anyone would say after being in a delivery room, birth is a true miracle. It’s an amazing feat, and I’ve never been more impressed with the moms of the world who have been through this experience.
One of my favorite observed memories was watching Nicki and Brian be a team. There was a quiet understanding between the two of them that made the normally hectic process…calming. He would hold her hand, stroke the hair out of her face, and help her through each contraction. The other minute that stands out in my mind was when their son, Kingston, met Ivy for the first time. He first came up to her with a goofy grin and then quickly became serious when the moment was actualized. Tears started to run down his face, which quickly caused Nicki and Brian to also get teary eyed. I lost it at that point.
Thank you Nicki + Brian for trusting me to be a part of such an intimate experience. It means more than you could know. I can’t wait to visit this week and cuddle up with that sweet girl of yours.
Beautiful.
Oh Megan, these are stunning. You captured this story beautifully. LOVE.
This is absolutely beautiful, thank you. I’m Brian’s cousin and your touching words and stunning photos make me feel like I was able to be there with my family, whom I love so much, to welcome this beautiful girl into the world and into our family. I’ll cherish this always.
