This wedding was a special one. Carolyn + Jake are wedding photographers themselves and have become dear friends throughout the process. They chose to host their celebration at Sherrill’s Inn, a hidden gem and a stunning backdrop for a wedding. The mountain view, the overgrown greenery, the maze of hedges can charm the pants off of anyone that visits. My favorite moments:
// Carolyn and Jake chose to do a first look and read their vows privately before the ceremony. We couldn’t hear what they promised, but from afar, their body language spoke volumes. Also, Jake’s face when he saw Carolyn…gah. Cue all the tears.
// Carolyn’s dad wrote the waltz for their father-daughter dance. I believe Jake also recorded their first dance song. I loved that sentiment. Oh, and don’t even get me started on the mother-son dance. Those two took turns crying and holding each other for the whole song. Now that I’m a mother to a baby boy, these moments just melt me.
// I remember walking into the room, and Carolyn was freaking out a little bit about the rain. She told herself she wouldn’t get upset, but it was reasonable for any bride to become panicked with a morning downpour. Even with a 100% chance of rain, I didn’t see a drop the rest of the afternoon. There were many prayers said and answered this day.
I had the opportunity to work many of my favorite “friendors” for this event.
