BEST OF 2024 // ELOPEMENTS

We’re celebrating 10 years in Asheville this year, and one of my favorite things about living in the Blue Ridge Mountains is getting to be an elopement photographer in Asheville. As much as I enjoy larger weddings, there is something incredibly special about a wedding day being just about the couple in the presence of nature.

Helene turned our world upside down in October, which is peak season for elopements and sessions in the mountains. The hurricane destroyed many roads, bridges, and trails. Most trails that are accessible have hundreds of trees down on and around the trail. While much of the Blue Ridge Parkway remains closed, there is hope that it will be restored by fall season. There is still so much beauty in western North Carolina, and thankfully we were able to pivot and reschedule those events that landed in the fall.

It makes me sad to look at some of these photos knowing that these spaces will never be the same. However, our community is committed to restoring the mountains and bringing them back to their glory, which gives me hope.
