This family session felt more meaningful than it normally does. Katie had lost her father unexpectedly a few days before we were supposed to meet up for our mentor session and real life family shoot (of course, we moved the session to a few months later). Katie told me that her dad believed in her photography career, so she wanted to pursue it with everything she had. With this momentum, she’s been learning and growing so quickly. I enjoyed encouraging her in the early stages of her career, as well as preserving a few hours of real life with their adorable one-year-old, James, husband, and dog.
We spent the evening walking around Plaza Midwood with James showing off how fast and independently he could walk ahead of us. I watched Katie and Patrick sing Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band as a lullaby before they put him in the bath. I know these routine moments won’t last forever. I’m glad that I’m able to capture a glimpse into their world right now, perfect just as it is.
Beautiful pictures of a beautiful family!!!! : )
