Erika and Jake promised to renew their vows every five years, which is a beautiful sentiment to their marriage. They planned their first vow renewal in the midst of the initial shutdown phase of the pandemic. We weren’t sure if we were going to have to postpone, but thankfully the Blue Ridge Parkway reopened a couple weeks before their planned vow renewal.
They wanted to hike a less popular, longer trail, and we settled on one of our new favorite trails in the area. We had the best time hiking, laughing (mostly at Jake’s jokes), and taking in beauty of the day. Erika’s mom made the most incredible pink floral veil for the occasion, which was the perfect accessory to Erika’s boho dress. It was a foggy evening, but the weather provided a dreamy landscape.
We all prayed that we would have views at some point during our time together. Our prayers were answered because during their vows, the clouds opened up for less than 10 seconds to have a small glimpse of the sunset over the mountains. As the clouds shifted, we stared at the pink sky before they were consumed by the fog again.
