Annie and Eric’s Asheville backyard wedding was the perfect fall day. The leaves were turning orange, yellow, red. The air lingered with the warmth of the end of summer but also had the crispness of the approaching fall season. The hills and valleys were dotted with pumpkins and trees shedding their leaves.
After the pandemic hit, Annie and Eric opted to completely change their wedding plans. They postponed their summer wedding to the fall, and they downsized their guest list to only their immediate family and closest friends. They hosted their wedding day at Annie’s parents’ farm. The property is stunning and extends for many acres.
After everyone was dressed, Annie had a special moment with her parents to soak in the day. We traveled down the road to meet Eric in front of the rock where he proposed months prior. The grasshoppers filled her tulle skirt as Eric tried to free them from their netting.
The sun shone brightly as her dad walked her past the house and cattle gate into Eric’s arms. They exchanged vows, promises, and communion before officially becoming husband and wife.
After exploring the rolling hills for photos, Annie and Eric enjoyed their first dance with the sun setting behind the mountains. Their guests gathered around one long farm table for BBQ and toasts. After yard games they played with sparklers, dancing around the newlyweds.
However, during the sparkler lighting, one of the candles tipped over. After a few minutes, someone noticed that a fire had broken out at the dinner table! Her maid of honor quickly thought on her feet and grabbed the carafe of water and put out the majority of the flames. Once the danger had passed, everyone laughed, and settled on the fact that they had a great story to share.
