We all woke up while the earth was still dark, only hours after they had eloped at sunset the evening before. We saw the sun peeking over the horizon in the distance and pulled over quickly to take in the sunrise at a beach off the beaten path. Surfers paddled in the distance. The air was still crisp with morning dew, and there was a quiet peace that rolled from the waves to the sand.
We continued our journey to the Waihee Ridge Trail, taking in the mountains and increasing elevation as we drove. The dark clouds teased us with rain, but the sun pushed them away and peeked through to cast the most beautiful morning light.
We hiked through mud, mosquitos, and rainforest. About two miles in, we came upon the most epic view of the mountains with the sun spotlighting the terrain. It was an incredible morning.
